About FidalgoWeather.Net
This is a home weather station located on the south shore of Fidalgo Island in Skagit County, Washington U.S.A. We are located at the convergence of three international waterways, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Strait of Georgia and Puget Sound. To the west is the Pacific Ocean and to the east, the Cascade Mountain Range. We also sit at the edge of a rain shadow created by the Olympic Mountains. This locale gives us maritime weather patterns which are characterized by relatively low rainfall, mild year-around temperatures and occassionally strong windstorms. FidalgoWeather utilizes the Vantage Pro2 wireless weather station by Davis Instruments of Hayward, California. The station console receives data from outdoor sensors every 2.5 seconds. The sensor array is solar-powered and measures wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity and rainfall. The console data logger transmits to the PC software through a USB connection. The data stream is summarized every 10 minutes and uploaded to the web site.
